The Baggies were beaten 2-1 at Derby County on Boxing Day and will be keen to respond with a positive result in South Yorkshire.

Sheffield United were also on the wrong end of the scoreline in their festive fixture, going down 2-0 at home to title rivals Burnley - their first defeat in front of their own supporters in the second tier this term.

The two sides went head-to-head earlier on this month at The Hawthorns, drawing 2-2. Torbjørn Heggem and Tom Fellows found the net for Albion, with Callum O'Hare and Tyrese Campbell scoring for the Blades.

The hosts

Sheffield United will be determined to get back to winning ways at home following their first defeat of the campaign at Bramall Lane on Boxing Day.

The Blades, who at this stage of the season appear to be locked in a four-way battle for automation promotion to the Premier League, were beaten 2-0 by one of those sides chasing the title, Burnley.

That setback was their first loss in front of their supporters since the final match of the 2023/24, with the Blades securing nine victories in-a-row without conceding on home soil before facing the Clarets.

They've collected an impressive 48 points from their 23 fixtures, a return which has put them in a strong position heading into the second half of the year as they hunt down Premier League football in 2025/26.

Boss Chris Wilder is a man who knows the club inside out. Having made over a century of appearances for Sheffield United as a defender, he's now well into his second spell as boss.

He's guided United to two promotions during his time at the helm and has taken charge of 278 matches, winning 125 of those. His record as a boss against the Albion reads played seven, won three, drawn two and lost two.

One from the history books

The Albion claimed a 2-1 Sky Bet Championship win at Bramall Lane in December 2018.

David McGoldrick put the Blades 1-0 up early on, but Gareth Barry's sublime strike levelled matters before the break.

The visitors won it late on when Kieran Gibbs found the net from close range.

Travel

Albion fans planning to travel to Sheffield via train on Sunday are advised CrossCountry Trains are expecting severely overcrowded services between Birmingham and Sheffield owing to off-route engineering and Christmas travel.

There are only two pre-match services. There is also potential for short-notice changes owing to operational challenges.

CrossCountry Trains are anticipating a significant impact on supporters travelling to and from the fixture at Bramall Lane and offer their apologies.

CrossCountry Trains also advise planning other methods of transport.
