Albion Women head coach Siobhan Hodgetts-Still believes her side need to be "calmer" to achieve positive results following their defeat to Hull City on Sunday.
The hosts scored once in each half before Hannah George headed in with 20 minutes remaining.
The Baggies pushed to try and find an equaliser their performance deserved, but were unable to breach the Tigresses defensive structure for a second time.
Hodgetts-Still insists her side were unlucky to lose on the day, but stressed the need to be better overall as they try to find consistent form in the FAWNL Northern Premier Division.
“We didn’t start well and the early goal gave us a lot to do,” Hodgetts-Still said. “I don’t think we did enough in possession after going behind and they made it difficult for us to get the ball down and play like we usually do.
“At the break, we talked about being calmer in possession and making better decisions on the ball. Second half we created some great chances to get back in the game and scored thanks to a great header from our captain.
“If we’d had some better decision-making and quality going forward I think we could have come out of the game with more. They didn’t hurt us in terms of breaking us down but it was our own individual errors that led to the goals.
“Hull made three goal-line clearances which could’ve seen us take three points on another day but we just couldn’t find the equaliser. Overall, defensively we were comfortable for the majority of the game and frustratingly two deflected goals went against us.
“Thank you to the fans who travelled. We heard you and we appreciate your support.”
Defender Izzy Green agreed and believes the game became too transitional for her team to wrestle control of the tie.
“We started well and then they got the goal and we started to play too much into their hands,” Green said. “We didn’t really get the ball on the floor and play our game the way we like to do.
“They made it very transitional and especially in the first half we struggled to get the ball down and play. In the second half, we did start really well and had some good chances which, if we’d have taken, could have made it a very different game.
“They got their bodies behind the ball and defended well, and I think in the final third we just have to be a little bit better.”
Albion will look to bounce back when they host Black Country rivals Wolves at The Hawthorns on Sunday, October 13.
