Baggies head coach Siobhan Hodgetts-Still believes her side’s showing at Burnley sets them up well for Wednesday night’s match against Stourbridge.

Albion Women put in a gutsy performance despite being narrowly beaten 1-0 on Sunday - and now turn their attention to the midweek fixture with the Glassgirls.

“There were lots of positives to take from Burnley,” said the boss. “The girls reacted in the way we asked them to from last week’s performance.

“I’m proud of the players' resilience and attitude to keep going today in a game where we knew defensively we’d have to work hard and be switched on.

“We knew we’d have less possession. We were excellent out of possession. We were compact and hard to break down, credit to our players for that. There were moments in the game where we caused them problems too.

“Our focus now turns to Wednesday night. Hopefully, the players will take some confidence from Sunday’s performance into that fixture.

“We know the quality Stourbridge have and so we must prepare in the right way. We’ll be facing a competitive game where we must be at our best.

“It’s important that we recover properly over the next few days. It’ll be an opportunity to give players much-needed minutes in areas we need to.”

And midfielder Liv Rabjohn, who managed 90 minutes at Turf Moor, agreed with Hodgetts-Still’s assessment.

She was also keen to stress they must now look forward and build on the positive feeling in the dressing room.

“I thought we were really unlucky in Burnley to be honest,” Rabjohn said. “Not to come away with anything was disappointing. I thought we held them for the majority of the game.

“There was one moment where we did not concentrate, and they capitalised on that. Conceding less was a main priority, but we definitely stepped up our performance.

“Hopefully, over the next couple of weeks, we can start to work out scoring some goals when we get the opportunity.

“Stourbridge will be a great chance to push on again. We had a blip but we know we have corrected it - so we’ll go again.”
