Albion Women head coach Siobhan Hodgetts-Still believes her side were “excellent” in their 1-1 draw with promotion hopefuls Burnley at The Hawthorns on Sunday.
The Baggies opened the scoring in front of a buoyant crowd through Phoebe Warner before Aimee Kelly produced the leveller for the Clarets in the second half with a smart back-heeled finish.
Hodgetts-Still insists her side were full value for their point in the FAWNL Northern Premier Division clash.
She said: “I’m really proud of the girls. I thought defensively we were excellent and in the first 20 minutes, we caused them problems.
“We created chances and we got the early goal. Although, Burnley did dominate large parts of the game after that.
“Our defensive shape was excellent throughout and we were good on the counter and we caused quite a few problems on the counter-attack.
“We were organised and compact and we worked hard which we had to. I saw great attitude from the players to really hang in there and get to the point that I think we deserved overall.
“Phoebe’s a great player and she gets into great areas and she's created chances this season. For her to get a goal, I'm really pleased for her.”
Hodgetts-Still’s side were greeted by plenty of spectators as they walked out in B71, a welcome the boss is delighted with.
She said: “We’ve got a good crowd here today. We could hear them and I want to thank everyone.
“It’s Mother's Day, it was raining and we still got a good turnout. We've got some important home games left this season.
“We've got a game at Darlaston on Thursday against Stourbridge and we’re back at home on Sunday. I think we've got four home games left, so come and see us.”
