West Bromwich Albion's first away game of 2025 takes place on Saturday lunchtime - a Sky Bet Championship showdown with Swansea City at the Swansea.com Stadium (ko 12.30pm).

The Baggies have an opportunity to record back-to-back victories for the first time since the middle of September having eased to a 3-1 success over Preston North End at The Hawthorns on New Year's Day.

Hosts Swansea certainly did not have the start to the new year they would have been targeting, losing 4-0 at relegation-threatened Portsmouth.

Jayson Molumby's solitary strike was enough to secure a 1-0 win in the reverse fixture at The Hawthorns back in August, with Albion seeking a similar result in South Wales.

WBA Matchday

The hosts

Swansea City had won on both Boxing Day and Sunday, December 29 before their disappointing 4-0 defeat at lowly Portsmouth on New Year's Day.

The Swans secured home wins over QPR and then Luton in front of their own supporters prior to being heavily beaten on the south coast, and this weekend's hosts will be determined to deliver an immediate reaction.

Luke Williams' men are 12th in the division having won nine, drawn six and lost 10 of their 25 fixtures played so far, scoring as many goals as they have conceded (29).

At home, they have the chance to record three successive victories for the first time in 2024/25. Swansea have won five, drawn four and lost three at the Swansea.com Stadium in the second tier this term.

Williams celebrates one whole year at the club the day after Albion's visit. The 43-year-old Londoner has previously managed Swindon Town and Notts County. The clash with the Baggies will be his 50th in charge of Swansea. He has won 18, drawn 10 and lost 21 of his previous 49 encounters at the helm.

One from the history books

Albion came from behind to claim a 2-1 triumph at Swansea City in November 2018.

Oli McBurnie's close-range finish put the hosts 1-0 up after ten minutes, but three minutes later Craig Dawson equalised with a header.

Ahmed Hegazi then repeated the trick, nodding in to make it 2-1 before the break.

That's how it stayed that particular night in South Wales, with Darren Moore's men coming home with all three Sky Bet Championship points.

The stats

Albion will be hoping to halt a run of three straight defeats at Swansea City on Saturday. The Baggies are winless in four at the home of the Swans, last tasting victory at their ground in November 2018.

Saturday's clash will be the 14th between the two clubs at the Swansea.com Stadium. The Baggies have recorded three wins and one draw there, losing nine.

Alex Palmer is set to make his 100th appearance for Albion this weekend. The academy graduate has kept an impressive 41 clean sheets in his 99 games, including 11 in 25 matches so far in 2024/25.

Gonçalo Franco has the opportunity to become the first non-British or Irish player to bag a goal in three straight home Championship appearances for Swansea City since Joël Piroe scored in five in-a-row in November 2021.

Following on from the 1-0 triumph at home to the Swans in August, the Baggies could complete a league double over their opponents for the first time since 2018/19.
