Albion goalkeeper Ted Cann has signed a 12-month contract extension, with a further year’s option in the club’s favour.
The 23-year-old joined the Baggies in 2017 having left Liverpool’s academy ranks and it has been at The Hawthorns where the stopper has enjoyed important development.
Ted has worked closely with the first-team goalkeeping department in recent seasons, while also gaining senior exposure away from the club, enjoying productive loans at Yeovil Town, Leamington and AFC Telford.
Cann was also a pivotal figure in Albion’s Premier League Cup triumph over local rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2022, saving two spot-kicks in a penalty shootout to help Richard Beale’s men lift the trophy.
And the academy graduate is delighted to sign a new deal.
Ted said: “I’m really happy to be staying for another season.
“It’s another year to prove myself here and I feel I’ve come on massively. I know I didn’t play many games but in training I’ve had great feedback from Marcos, the gaffer, and we have a really good goalkeeping group here.
“Me, Josh and Palms are close on and off the pitch. Palms did amazing last season and I look at both of them, coming through the academy, getting to first-team level, and I want to do the same.
“I made massive improvements and I’m excited to see where that takes me this year, whether that’s here or out on loan playing games, but we’ll see.”
