Tom Fellows believes Albion showed how versatile they can be during Tuesday night’s 0-0 draw at Sunderland.
The Baggies lost Ousmane Diakité to injury in the warm up, could only play his replacement Kyle Bartley for 45 minutes and also had midfielder Uroš Račić filling it at centre back for the entirety of the second period.
Carlos Corberán set his players up with a line of four at the back in the opening half, switching to a line of five after the interval.
Fellows says the point gained is one they’ll happily accept and insists Albion were “really solid” defensively.
The winger said: “It’s a point we’re certainly happy to take.
“We know how good Sunderland are here at home and they’re up near the top for a reason.
“It was difficult to change from a four to a five and we’ve only really had one day to prepare for it.
“I do think we showed how versatile we are as a team though.
“We really dug in when we needed to and if you can’t win a game then you don’t go and lose it.
“We were really solid defensively as a whole team tonight.
“We wanted to be more attacking and get into better attacking areas, but it’s tough to do that here. They press high and the crowd get behind them, which makes it challenging.
“We’ll take the point and move on.”
