Tony Mowbray believes Albion were fully deserving of their point at Elland Road on Saturday.
The Baggies fell behind to the Sky Bet Championship leaders Leeds United inside the opening ten minutes when Junior Firpo headed in.
However, defender Darnell Furlong’s looping header made it 1-1 before the break and that’s how it remained in Yorkshire.
Albion displayed plenty of heart and character and had an opportunity or two to take all three points against a team which has now gone 17 matches unbeaten in the second tier.
Mowbray says his side more than competed and insists the players produced a performance which was worthy of praise.

He said: “I don’t want to get too carried away. It was a game we spoke about all week about showing our credentials. This is West Bromwich Albion, we should be able to come to Leeds United and be able to more than compete and try and win.
“They’re having a great season and they’re a very, very well-coached team, but I thought we grew into the game after being a bit too tentative in the first 20 minutes or so.
“I thought we were good in the second part of the first half and we found the spaces that we were looking for. We played forward and got around their box a lot.
“We had a great chance to score through John Swift before they got their goal, but as they game went on, I felt as though we threw enough punches to threaten their goal. I thought we were really competitive, and so we should be.

“There are so many strong men in our team and it’s important to have that. I thought all the players were really good today. We came and did what I hoped we would do despite losing a goal early on.
“It’s a brilliant ball into the box and it’s amazing how often the left-back gets into the box – he scored last week against Sheffield United. It was frustrating to lose that goal but we managed to fight back. Overall, we more than deserved a point.
“Hopefully this performance can give the players a lot of confidence, but I hope they’ve already got lots of confidence anyway. We have to produce a performance next week against QPR now.
“I keep on saying it’s not about the colour of the shirts or the names on the back of them, it’s all about what we do and how we play. We have to affect football matches and hopefully as the games tick off we can win plenty of them and we can secure our place in the play-offs.”
