Torbjørn Heggem was thrilled to notch his first Baggies goal during Sunday’s 2-2 draw with Sheffield United at The Hawthorns.
The towering defender rose highest in the box to glance Alex Mowatt’s curling corner into the net halfway through the opening 45.
The Blades scored twice in two minutes before the half-time whistle, but Tom Fellows’ deflected strike after the interval secured a point for Carlos Corberán’s team.
Heggem believes the performance was a “positive” one and says the players are “irritated” they didn’t earn a victory.
Torbjørn said: “I feel like I’ve been close to scoring my first goal. I’ve been getting closer and closer, so to finally get the first goal was really, really good.
“It was a perfect delivery from Alex Mowatt and I made a good run. It was a good header and it was nice to see it go through into the goal.
“We’ve been improving on our set-pieces as a team and we want to show that we can be dangerous from them.
“It was a really good start to the game. We were pressing on and it was a deserved goal for us to go 1-0 up.
“Sheffield United showed their quality when they scored two goals in two minutes. They showed why they are top of the league, but we also showed that we are a really good team in that game.
“We were pressing for the win and we were digging deep. I hope that we can pick up three points really, really soon.
“I think we are irritated about not getting wins and picking up too many draws. It’s hard to look at performances, but with perspective, I think it was a really good game and there are lots of positives to take. It was a good performance.”
