A brace from forward Dan Chimeziri helped keep Albion’s Premier League Cup hopes alive on Saturday afternoon.
The striker scored twice before the break against Blackburn Rovers, finishing confidently after being played through by Alfie Maughan and then finding the net once more following fine work from Noah Dupont.
Chimeziri could’ve had a hat-trick ahead of the half-time whistle, but the Rovers stopper made a smart save to keep the score at 2-0.
The visitors pulled one back with five minutes remaining, but Leigh Downing’s group held on the claim a valuable three points.
The young Baggies now have to beat Reading in their final game to stand any chance of reaching the last eight of the tournament.
ALBION: Wilkes, Maughan, Dupont (Abudu), Morrish, Sears, Beedie (Letlat), Blackshields (McNeil), Crowther, Onyemachi, Parmar, Chimeziri (Okorodudu).
