Albion’s U18 side were beaten 2-0 at home by Fulham despite delivering a strong performance on Saturday.
Several U16 players featured in Leigh Downing’s team, and the Baggies made an eye-catching start to the encounter at the club’s training ground, creating opportunities to score the first goal.
However, with two minutes left of the opening period, the visitors were awarded a penalty. Tom Wingate converted, giving the Cottagers a 1-0 advantage at the break.
Albion pushed for a leveller in the second 45, but Fulham wrapped up all three points in added time when Aidan Evans found the net.
The youngsters are back in action on Thursday night when they host Manchester City in the last eight of the FA Youth Cup at The Hawthorns (ko 7pm).
