Albion's scholars were unable to capitalise on a strong start to proceedings as they were defeated by Norwich City at the club's Walsall training ground on Saturday afternoon.
The Baggies forged several inviting openings during the early exchanges but failed to capitalise on them - something their opponents did do when handed the opportunities.
Gabriel Keita fired in the opener on 17 minutes and although Leigh Downing's group pressed for a leveller during the second 45, the Canaries punished them with two late strikes from Gabriel Forsyth and Lasean Sealey which ensured they took three points back to East Anglia.
Defeat means Albion's academy hopefuls remain ninth in the U18 Premier League South, and they will hope to bounce back during their next match on home soil against Southampton on Tuesday, April 23 (ko 12pm).
