Albion Under-18s were edged out 2-1 by Aston Villa at their Bodymoor Heath Training Ground on Tuesday afternoon.
Jack McGrath gave the hosts, under the management of former Baggies academy coach Jimmy Shan, a first-half lead in the local affair after finding the net within the first eight minutes.
But Leigh Downing's men levelled proceedings through their leading talisman Divine Onyemachi, who was set up by Alfie Maughan to make it 1-1 on 54 minutes.
Unfortunately, their hopes of claiming a point from the encounter were dashed when Cole Brannigan restored Villa's advantage with 15 minutes remaining - a lead they maintained to seal the win.
Albion have three matches left to play of the 2024/25 U18 Premier League South campaign, with a trip to Reading up next on Saturday, May 3 (ko 12pm).
