Will Lankshear says he’s determined to grasp what he describes as a “massive opportunity” at West Bromwich Albion.

The 19-year-old striker joined the club on a loan deal until the end of the season from Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.

Lankshear made six first-team appearances for Spurs before making the switch to Albion on the final day of January, appearing in four top-flight matches and two in the UEFA Europa League.

The teenager spoke of his desire to prove he’s capable of making an impact in the Sky Bet Championship when in front of the WBA TV cameras for the first time earlier this week.

He said: “This is a massive opportunity for me to show what I can do. West Bromwich Albion is a really big club and I’m really grateful to be here.

“I can’t wait to get going and hopefully score lots of goals.

“I’ve really enjoyed my first few days here. Training has been really good and all the staff have been incredibly welcoming. The players have been really welcoming too and that’s really helped me settle in.

“I’ve been lucky enough to get some senior games at Tottenham Hotspur this season and I want to build on that here.

“Playing games for Spurs has certainly given me extra motivation to stay around a senior side and I’m determined to grasp this opportunity.

“I can’t wait to get playing and I want to get as many minutes as possible here.”

Will scored his first senior goal in a UEFA Europa League tie away at Galatasaray in November.

The forward insists he’s more than capable of getting into goalscoring positions and finding the back of the net. He hopes he has the chance to do that as soon as possible at The Hawthorns.

“I’d say my best attributes are scoring goals and linking up the play, trying to get other players involved in attacks.

“I’d say most of the goals I score are in the penalty area, within the frame of the goal.

“I wouldn’t call them tap-ins because they are harder finishes than you’d think they are, but I like being in and around the goal looking for those opportunities from close range.

“I’m confident that I’m capable of getting into the right areas and scoring goals and I hope I can show that to the fans as soon as possible.”
