A fast, tenacious right-back, Deago is pushing to make an impression at The Hawthorns.

Nelson is confident both on and off the ball when carrying out his defensive and attacking duties. The tenacious wide defender, who first joined Albion at U13s level, has grown up in Birmingham during his progression through the club's academy ranks.

Deago's pace has been a key outlet for both U18s boss Leigh Downing and PL2 boss Richard Beale, with the wide defender having an effect in both teams during his first year as a scholar.

His maiden outing in the U21s couldn't have gone much better, with the full-back setting up the winning goal in the final minute of regular time to help his young Baggies team-mates seal a 2-1 win over Leeds United in January 2023.

Following a full first season in the 18s during the 2022/23 term, as well as regular outings in Albion's PL2 side the following campaign, Nelson is well-placed to enter the professional stage of his career with plenty of experience under his belt already.

19 appearances in the PL2 team as a second-year scholar - more than any other of his 18s team-mates - during the 2023/24 season resulted in the full-back earning a two-year professional contract in July 2024.
