West Bromwich Albion Football Club is committed to ensuring consistent and ever improving environments where our ‘Albion Family’ can feel safe, welcome, and free to raise concerns when they don’t feel safe or happy.
To support our commitment to you and your safety within our ‘Albion Family’, we produce Annual Reports during the closed football season as well as working towards multi-year strategic plans.
Our current strategy, “Keeping our Family Safe”, builds on the great work that committed individuals have undertaken over the years to create a ‘family’ environment here at West Bromwich Albion Football Club and ensure that family remains safe. The strategy is built on five foundation standards:
Leadership & Governance - A foundation of “Keeping Our Family Safe” is to have safeguarding embedded as a core consideration within all the club’s areas of activity and at all levels - from boot room to board room.
Policy & Procedure - policy and guidance documents seek to ensure that all members of our family understand expectations in relation to behaviour, attitudes and practice.
Educating, Developing and Embedded - To ensure that everyone understands and feels able to play “their part”, we are committed to educating, developing and empowering individuals and groups to ensure the highest standards are met and maintained.
Protecting & Supporting - we must raise awareness of safeguarding and ensure that the ways in which we seek to protect all individuals from harm, or accusations of harm, are communicated effectively and understood.
Open Culture - Our Club’s culture is supported by a set of values which underpin our expectations around behaviours and attitudes which are aligned to these values (integrity, inclusivity, innovation, commitment, aspiration and tradition).
Mark Miles, WBA FC Manging Director said: “We have a fantastic Safeguarding Team who have worked in partnership with and consulted a diverse range of stakeholders to produce the “Keeping Our Family Safe” strategy. I, and the board, are fully supportive of the vision for safeguarding set out in this strategy, the challenges it sets for the club and the commitment needed to ensure that it is realised.”
