He’s already fled Alcatraz and now ‘Blind Dave’ Heeley is preparing to Escape from Colditz in his latest fundraising campaign for The Albion Foundation.
The West Bromwich-born athlete will cycle 800 miles from the once-infamous former prisoner of war camp all the way back to The Hawthorns to raise money for the Club’s official charity, starting on Monday, April 18 and returning home to the Shrine on Sunday, April 24.
On Thursday, the challenge begins. Dave and his team head off to Colditz Castle to prepare for their 800-mile cycle ride back to West Bromwich. But the event, which starts on Monday, will be tinged with sadness.
